After Mazda decided to do away with rotary engines in 1995, fans were widely disappointed that they would not be able to drive another rotary engine Mazda for a while. But in 2004, the company decided to revive it with the RX-8 series, and the 2007 Mazda RX-8 is no exception.
The power behind the RX-8 does indeed lie with the 1.3 liter rotary engine that manages to put out an amazing 232 hp when coupled with a six speed manual gearbox, and 212 hp when coupled with a six speed automatic.
The 2007 release sees the 2007 Mazda RX-8 available in two new colors – Stormy Blue Mica and Crystal White Pearl, and the interiors come in a dual tone with a body color and black combination. The console is aluminum themed, as is the gearshift lever and the transmission tunnel.
Another addition is the triangular shaped front headrests, shift lever and side sill covers that accentuate the engine’s rotors.
